What is a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment?
- A Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) looks at the current needs of local communities and helps health and care organisations to plan support and services for the future
- Under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act (2007) Birmingham’s NHS Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and Birmingham City Council must produce a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) of the health and care needs of local people. This assessment covers the work these organisations do together and work that is closely linked.
- The JSNA links into wider local planning, particularly support for vulnerable groups, across a range of areas, such as housing, community safety and economic wellbeing.
Full JSNA details for Birmingham are available on the Birmingham Public Health website which can be found HERE
